Do’s and Don’ts

Pool Table Do’s & Don’ts

After your table has been professionally leveled, follow these guidelines to keep it in perfect playing condition.

❌ Don’t Move or Lift the Table

Your table has been leveled to the exact spot on your floor. Even a small shift can throw off the level and affect play. If you need to move it, call a professional.

❌ Don’t Stand or Sit on the Table

Excessive weight on the playing surface can crack or separate the slate seams. Never stand, sit, or climb on your pool table — and don’t sit on the rails, as this can pop the rubber cushions.

❌ Don’t Leave Balls Racked Up

Avoid leaving balls or other objects sitting on the felt for more than a few days. Prolonged weight in one spot will create permanent indentations in the cloth.

❌ Don’t Place Drinks on the Table

Spills can permanently stain the felt — even with Teflon-treated cloth. Always keep beverages on a separate surface away from the table.

✅ Watch for Belt Buckles & Keys

When leaning over the table to shoot, belt buckles, keys, and jewelry can scratch the rails and damage the felt. Be mindful of what you’re wearing during play.

✅ Keep Only 3–4 Balls per Pocket

When pockets start filling up, redistribute balls to other pockets. Overloaded pockets stretch the leather and can damage the pocket hardware.

✅ Keep One Foot on the Ground

Always keep at least one foot on the floor while shooting. Putting your full weight on the table or rails can cause damage and void your leveling.

✅ No Jump or Massé Shots

Jump shots and massé shots may look impressive, but they tear and damage the felt. Save the trick shots for the pros — your table will thank you.
